The flu is beginning to sicken increasing numbers of Idaho residents, prompting health officials to urge people to get vaccinated and take precautions to protect their health.
Two Idaho convenience stores are banned from participating in the Food Stamp program after investigations revealed they were providing cash, alcohol, gas and cigarettes to customers using Food Stamp benefits. It is against the law for grocery retailers to charge anything but food in the Food Stamp program.
Idaho health officials urge Idahoans to check their shelves for peanut butter-containing products that may be implicated in a multistate outbreak of Salmonella serotype Typhimurium. Jars of peanut butter purchased at grocery stores have not been associated with this outbreak and are safe to eat.
Idaho health officials are asking people who traveled on a Greyhound bus from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Boise, Idaho, on Jan. 11, 2009, to contact the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare immediately at (208) 334-5939 due to possible exposure to meningitis.
