Public health officials are encouraging people to get their flu vaccine before the holidays to prevent the spread of illness among families and friends. “With the holidays approaching, this is the perfect time to not only protect yourself, but your loved ones as well,” says Dr. Leslie Tengelsen, Deputy State Epidemiologist. “The best protection is to get vaccinated. We don’t want to see people’s holidays ruined because of flu illnesses that are easily preventable.”

The Idaho Board of Health and Welfare will meet Thursday and Friday, November 18-19, in Boise for a regularly scheduled meeting. The meeting will begin on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. in the 10th floor conference room of the PeteT.CenarrusaBuilding, 450 West State Street. The meeting will continue through Friday morning.

Idaho is being recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy for having one of the top-performing weatherization programs in the country. The program has put $30 million in stimulus funds to work improving the energy efficiency of homes of low-income Idahoans while generating hundreds of jobs in the state.
