Deanna Lindsey Fisher
Deanna Lindsey Fisher is a determined woman. A single working professional with three grown children of her own, Deanna decided she had the ability and the desire to do more with her life.
The decision to become a foster parent was an easy one to make once she realized the extent of the need. "I really never thought I would do something like this," Deanna explains, "but when I went to foster care orientation and saw the video about these children, I knew I could do something to help." Valorie and Doug Kolsen
Valorie and Doug Kolsen love children. Almost a decade ago, the couple adopted two children through a private agency. The emotional ups and downs that accompanied the lengthy adoption process took a heavy toll.
Much to their dismay, the couple learned there was very little support available to parents going through the adoption process. Even worse, the private agency offered no support at all once the children were adopted. They suspected their experience was not unique. With a great deal of hard work and the able assistance of other adoptive families, the Kolsens formed a support group.
The group often participates in seminars sponsored by state and municipal agencies. One such seminar involving the Idaho Departmentof Health and Welfare dealt with foster care. Learning about the need for foster parents was all it took to motivate the Kolsens to embrace foster care.

Precillia and Eli Martinez
Precillia and Eli Martinez are relative newcomers to foster care. In fact, they received their first child just a little over a year ago.
While they may not have years of experience to reflect upon, their obvious dedication to the children in their care and enthusiasm for the Foster Care Program makes them powerful advocates for foster parenting.
