(En Español) Child and Adult Care Food Program The Child and Adult Care Food Program is a United States Department of Agriculture child nutrition program that works with child care providers to improve the nutritional quality of food served to children in home-based child care. Locally, the program is administered through the Idaho State Department of Education. The primary goal of the Child and Adult Care Food Program is to provide nutritious meals for children enrolled in child care centers, outside school hours centers, and family child care homes throughout the state of Idaho. Children are served meals that meet the USDA meal pattern requirements. Participants in the program benefit from the offering of a wide variety of foods. More than four million meals are served each year to children in the child care settings, including child care centers, family child care homes, and Head Start programs. Children served by this program range in age from newborn to 12 years of age.
