We establish standards, interpretations and guidelines for uniform regulation of food safety standards for food establishments. The responsibility for licensing, inspecting and enforcement of regulations is delegated to the state’s seven health districts.
We provide consultation, standardization and training for the Environmental Health Specialists in the health districts who carry out licensing and inspection of food establishments, and evaluate the regulatory performance of the health districts through an assessment process to ensure uniformity of rule application.
Our goal is to assure that food from regulated food facilities in Idaho is safe to eat. We promote safe food handling in food facilities and in homes.
