The first time you’re found eligible for Medicaid coverage, the Department will mail you a permanent Medicaid identification card. You should receive this no more than 14 days after you get a letter telling you that you are eligible.

Using your Idaho Medicaid card
- Keep your card with you in your purse or wallet so that you'll have it with you to show your doctor, dentist, or pharmacy.
- Always ask - before you get medical services - if the healthcare provider or pharmacy will accept Medicaid as payment. Not all providers accept Medicaid.
- Can't find what you're looking for about using your Medicaid card? Call 1-877-456-1233.

Additional information
- Your Medicaid card is permanent. Don’t throw it away, keep it!
- If you lose benefits and then get benefits again, you’ll use the same card.
- Report any name changes right away, because your card might not work at providers’ offices if you’re going by a different name than what appears on your Medicaid card.
