Food Stamp Income Limits

(Jan. 1, 2012 through Dec. 31, 2012)

Households must meet income tests as a condition of eligibility, unless all members are receiving TANF cash assistance benefits or Social Security Income.

To use the chart:
1. Add up all gross income (income before taxes and other deductions) that your household receives for a month.

2. On the chart, find the number of people in your household.

3. Follow the row to find the income limit for your household size.

Example:
A household of 4 has one person working and another receiving social security benefits. The gross paycheck from work (earned income) amount is $600 every two weeks, and the net amount is $550.

The gross social security check (unearned income) is $550, and the net amount (after a premium payment) is $475.

1. Add gross income for the month: $1,200 (two paychecks) + $550 (monthly social security) = $1,750 gross income.

2. Find a household size of 4 on the chart . . .

3. Which has a gross income limit of $2,422. The household may be eligible for assistance, and is encouraged to apply.
