Community Action Programs

Health and Welfare manages other community assistance programs with the purpose of improving living conditions for low-income households and encouraging self-reliance. The services for these programs are provided by other agencies within your local community, and are available to those who meet certain criteria. These program help vulnerable populations by Improving conditions in which low-income families live, and fostering partnerships among certain service providers and low-income families. The following community assistance programs are available:

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) - provides food baskets to eligible households.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - helps eligible low-income families pay a portion of the costs for heating their homes in Idaho's winter months. Energy conservation education is also available.

Idaho Telephone Service Assistance Program (ITSAP) - helps eligible low-income families pay for basic telephone service installation costs or monthly costs for basic residential phone service.

Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) - helps eligible low-income families conserve energy, save money, and improve living conditions by repairing or replacing heat sources (heaters, furnaces, etc.), installing insulation, weather stripping, and caulking around windows and doors.
