Idaho Bureau of Laboratories

Any Idaho laboratory performing tests on humans for the purpose of diagnosis, treatment, or assessment of health must have a license from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as part of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) program. The CLIA regulations can be found at the CMS website. This license certifies a laboratory's ability to accurately determine lab test results. • Federal CLIA Lab Registration Form

Mammography facilities are inspected under an agreement with the FDA to perform federal inspections of Idaho mammography sites. These facilities are regulated by the Federal Mammography Quality Standards Act.  The inspections are performed annually and are performed to determine machine accuracy and qualifications of technicians performing exams and radiologists reading film.

X-ray facilities (e.g. medical, dental, veterinarian, chiropractic, academic, and industrial) are inspected based on Idaho Radiation Control Regulations. The purpose of these regulations is to reduce radiation exposure to Idahoans.
