Substance Abuse Prevention

Primary prevention services are designed to:

u      build strong anti-use drug, alcohol and tobacco values in children

u      prevent underage drinking

u      prevent use of illegal drugs

u      prevention illegal use of prescription medications

u      provide parents with the skills needed to support healthy growth and development

u      build community coalitions to create and maintain safe, healthy, drug-free communities

 

Services are designed to help children, families and communities will be healthy and productive members of society.  The prevention services vary from community to community and are provided at no or little cost to individuals.

Substance Abuse Prevention Intervention

Substance Abuse Prevention Intervention Services were developed to provide youth, struggling in multiple areas of their lives, with the opportunity to develop skills, access resources and resolve issues.  Substance Abuse Prevention Intervention Services are for youth who are:

ü  Age 14 - 17

ü  Struggling in multiple areas of their lives

ü  May have tried alcohol or drugs

ü  May have a number of other risk factors

 This service is not for youth who need substance abuse treatment or mental health services.

 Prevention Intervention Services include:

ü   Application

ü  Education Group   

ü  Support

ü  Graduation Plan   

ü  Ongoing Support 

The purpose of these services is to provide a level of care where youth can receive education and support while being evaluated for other service needs.  The program lasts for 9 weeks.
