Health and Welfare provides child care assistance to low-income, working families. The Department also licenses child care providers and is working with community partners on a professional development system to improve child care services in Idaho. Idaho Child Care Program: The Department also provides child care assistance to low-income, working families through the Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP). ICCP is based on family income, and subsidizes child care payments on a sliding fee scale. Learn more about the program here. Licensing: Although any child care provider can seek state licensing, by state law the Department licenses child care providers who have more than six children enrolled. Communities and cities have the option to implement their own licensing laws, if they meet the minimum state licensing standards. Boise, Chubbuck, Coeur d'Alene, Jerome, Lewiston, Moscow, and Pocatello provide child care licensing in their communities. Click here for more information.
