Public Transportation
Public transportation provides mobility alternatives for Idaho citizens and is a vital resource in sustaining economic development, enhancing the quality of life, relieving congestion, improving air quality, and reducing environmental and transportation concerns throughout the state. Public transportation services include:

link Fixed transit routes;
link Scheduled or unscheduled transit service provided by motor

   vehicle, bus, van, aerial tramway, and other modes of public

   conveyance;
link Paratransit service for elderly persons and people with

   disabilities;
link Shuttle commuter service between cities, counties, health-care

   facilities, employment centers, educational institutions, or park-

   and-ride lots;
link Subscription van or car pooling services; and
link Transportation services unique to social service programs.


Taxi Scrip: uses a paper currency, similar to a voucher, except that it may be issued without restriction on purpose or to the individual using it for the fare. Typically used for purchase of discounted taxi trips by elderly persons and people with disabilities to supplement or in addition to the ADA paratransit requirements.

To provide efficient, accurate customer services in licensing drivers by testing driver skills and knowledge, providing photo identification, maintaining current records, promoting driver safety in compliance with federal and state laws, and inviting open communication and cooperation between Driver Services, other agencies, and the public in support of the mission and goals of the Division of Motor Vehicles and the Idaho Transportation Department.
