The Northern Plains Consortium (NPC), consisting of state public health laboratory members from Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and later Idaho, was formed in 2006 as part of a CDC grant initiative to “integrate clinical laboratories into public health.”  The intent of the NPC is to develop a regional public health laboratory system, where collaboration and laboratory system improvement activities are established across the region.  The NPC has utilized this collaboration in activities such as a Biosafety Officials Program, shared testing services, workshops/training, and an Emerging Leaders Program.

Vision:  Serving public health through a collaborative regional laboratory system

Mission:  Combining expertise and resources across peer groups to enhance laboratory capability
