ICWA (Indian Child Welfare Act)

The purpose of the Indian Child Welfare Advisory Council (ICWAC) is to improve outcomes related to permanency, safety, and well being of Indian children in Idaho through:

  • Promoting and improving Indian child welfare;
  • Implementation of and advocacy for both the law and the spirit of Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA);
  • Education and awareness of the ICWA;
  • Building positive State-Tribal relations through collaboration and cooperation between the Tribes and the IDHW.

The Indian Child Welfare Advisory Council meets at different locations throughout Idaho on a quarterly basis.  For more information please call (208) 334-5700.
