Certified Family Homes

(Consumers' Page)

Certified Family Homes (CFH) provide a safe, family-style living environment for adults who need some assistance with the activities of daily living, but do not require a more restrictive institutional setting. Usually there are one or two adult residents in a CFH.  Each resident has a tailored care plan designed to meet their individual needs and to ensure they have the opportunity to participate in community activities.  The CFH is operated by a provider who has received the appropriate training and demonstrated the knowledge and experience to provide safe and effective services to the residents.  There are over 1800 Certified Family Homes in communities across the state.

Consumer Information

The CCAC will consider nominations for multiple membership positions at its next meeting on January 23, 2018. Three (3) of these open membership positions are reserved for certified family home providers. The CCAC is a 20-member council established in Sections 39-3511, 39-3330, 39-3331, 39-3332, and 39-3333, Idaho Code, that meets quarterly and advises the Department regarding certified family homes and residential care or assisted living facilities in (1) matters of policy regarding licensing or certification and enforcement standards; (2) proposed rules; and (3) an annual report submitted to the legislature stating opinions and recommendations that would further the state’s capability in addressing issues within these care settings.

If you are interested in serving as a member of the CCAC, please submit a letter of interest to the Council Coordinator by January 9, 2018. You are also invited to attend the next CCAC meeting on January 23, 2018, where you will have the opportunity to introduce yourself to the council and explain how you might be able to contribute as a member. The council meets at 12:30 p.m. in Conference Room D at 3232 Elder Street, Boise, Idaho 83705.
