Children Health Insurance Plan (CHIP)

The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is a low-cost health coverage program for children under age 19 whose family income is too high to qualify for Medicaid.  There may be a small monthly premium ($10 or $15, depending on income) for each child enrolled in CHIP.

To qualify, a child must live in Idaho and be:

  • Under the age of 19
  • A U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Within family income guidelines
  • Not have private health insurance

If you are not determined eligible for CHIP, you still may be eligible for other Health Coverage Assistance. To get more information regarding other programs, visit the Health Coverage Assistance page.
