West Nile Virus (WNV) is transmitted by infected mosquitos and can cause serious illness in people of any age, but especially in people over the age of 50 or those with other underlying medical conditions. 

Fight the Bite

Taking the following precautions can help you "Fight the Bite:" 

1. Wear repellent containing DEET, Picaridin or Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus (all EPA-approved repellents) according to the label. 
2. Remove standing water around your home - this is where mosquitoes like to breed. 
3. Cover up your skin with clothing between dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active.
