What are IDHW's responsibilities for clandestine labs?
Senate Bill 1122 gave Idaho Department of Health and Welfare the authority and responsibility to develop and maintain a program that lists properties that were used as clandestine drug labs. Any property that is reported as a clandestine drug lab by law enforcement will be added to the Clandestine Drug Properties List. IDHW will remove a property from the list once the property owner has either met the clean-up standard or has their property demolished.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare also has developed a document to provide guidance for local agencies, property owners, contractors, and the general public in cleaning up former methamphetamine labs. IDHW Guidance Document for Clandestine Lab Clean-up.
IDHW does not conduct indoor air sampling or methamphetamine testing.
