The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans by providing them with emergency food assistance at no cost.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides 100% American-grown USDA Foods and funding for states to operate TEFAP. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare coordinates TEFAP food delivery to local partner agencies, who then supply participating soup kitchens and food pantries. These locations directly serve the public.
Idaho residents and families who meet income guidelines can receive supplemental food boxes or meals at participating locations.
To find a TEFAP food location near you:
Contact your local partner agency to get a list of approved TEFAP locations and learn about availability in your area. At the location, you’ll complete a short application form to certify Idaho residency and income eligibility.
This assistance is meant to supplement your household’s food supply. Most food boxes provide about three to five days of food.
