The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) has begun hiring for 63 new positions aimed at improving child welfare outcomes across the state. These positions, approved by the Idaho Legislature earlier this year, are part of a broader effort to enhance support for vulnerable children and families.

The hiring initiative follows Gov. Brad Little’s signing of Senate Bill 1208, which provides a $23 million investment in DHW’s child welfare division, constituting the largest increase in child welfare budgeting in Idaho’s history. These funds will help expand services that keep families together and ensure children in foster care receive the resources they need.

“This investment is a critical step in strengthening Idaho’s child welfare system,” said Deputy Director Monty Prow, who leads the state’s foster care programs. “By increasing staffing, we can build our support for families in crisis, enhance case management, and provide the necessary resources to children in foster care.”

The new positions are part of a broader effort to enhance support for vulnerable children and families. The new positions span a range of roles that will strengthen every stage of child welfare work and significantly expand prevention-based work to keep children safe and cared-for in their biological homes.

DHW encourages qualified individuals with a passion for child welfare to apply. For more information about job openings and how to apply, visit the state’s child welfare job listings.
