Rural healthcare providers in Idaho are encouraged to review the Healthcare Infrastructure Support funding opportunity, which is open for applications through Sept. 13.
This funding opportunity is part of the Idaho Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), which was authorized by H.R. 1, the Working Families Tax Cut Act, as a national $50 billion investment to strengthen and modernize the rural healthcare delivery system across America. The Idaho Legislature has approved funding for Idaho’s RHTP and created a legislative oversight committee through the passage of S.B. 1453 (2026).
“The Trump Administration’s Rural Health Transformation Program is helping states like Idaho turn bold plans into action with innovative, locally driven solutions to improve rural Americans’ access to high-quality care,” said CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz. “As states move forward with implementation, this historic investment is empowering rural communities to strengthen their health systems, put patients first, and bring better care closer to home.”
The $97 million funding opportunity is meant to expand healthcare capacity in rural Idaho communities by addressing identified rural provider needs that include minor building renovations; technology solutions; software modernization; vehicles for patient transport; and other opportunities to support sustainable transformation in healthcare delivery across rural Idaho.
“This funding opportunity is specifically meant for rural healthcare providers who may be limited by aging infrastructure or need access to modern clinical and business technologies to improve access to care and sustain their businesses,” said DHW Director Juliet Charron. “DHW hopes that rural hospitals, clinics, and independent providers consider applying for funding in Year 1 or in subsequent years of this funding. Our team stands ready to answer their questions and assist where we can through the application process. We want to see these funds reach rural communities and providers across all regions of our state.”
Eligible awardees for the Healthcare Infrastructure Support funding opportunity include rural health clinics, federally qualified health centers, hospitals, long-term care facilities, community-based organizations, community providers, local public health districts, and Tribal governments and organizations.
The funding opportunity is organized into six eligible categories:
- Cybersecurity Remediation and Advisory Consulting (total available $6,050,000)
- Technology (total available $21,954,653)
- Equipment (total available $21,469,000)
- Renovation (total available $35,070,000)
- Vehicles (total available $10,670,000)
- Practice Transformation, Consultation, and Training (total available: $2,000,000)
