Respiratory Syncytial Virus

Respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, is a common virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms, but it can be serious, especially for infants and older adults.

RSV in Idaho

In Idaho, the 2022-2023 RSV season has been declared, with increased activity being reported across the state. RSV season in Idaho officially started MMWR Week 42, ending October 22, 2022, the first of two (2) consecutive weeks where testing percent positivity was ≥3%. The start and end of the RSV season follows the National Respiratory and Enteric Virus Surveillance System (NREVSS) and the latest Idaho RSV surveillance data can be found on Get Healthy Idaho.
