Complaints the Division of Behavioral Health (DBH) Can Process

The DBH handles complaints related to the following:

  • designated examiners,
  • court-ordered services provided by DBH staff, 
  • peer support and family support partner certification, 
  • tobacco permits and inspections, 
  • training, technical assistance, fidelity monitoring, and other activities conducted by our Centers of Excellence Bureau and
  • DBH contractors

For concerns or complaints about behavioral health services or providers, please contact Magellan of Idaho directly. Magellan is responsible for handling and resolving these issues. Their contact information and complaint process can be found on their website https://magellanofidaho.com/.

If you wish to anonymously file a complaint about the Youth Empowerment Services (YES) system of care, you may file it with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. You can find that contact information on the YES Contact Us webpage

Complaints about YES that do not need to be made anonymously can be filed with Magellan.

What to expect after submitting a complaint

Upon receipt of your complaint, DBH will acknowledge your submission and begin an initial review. You may be contacted to request additional information. The time it takes to process a complaint varies depending on the nature and complexity of the issue. You will be notified of the outcome of the complaint process.
