Apply for Heating Assistance

To apply for services or to determine eligibility for seasonal heating assistance, contact your local Community Action Agency.

In order to qualify for seasonal heating assistance, a family must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Live in Idaho
• One household member must be a US Citizen or a lawful permanent resident
• Show proof of identity
• Provide proof of heating expense
• Households are entitled to one benefit payment per program year (October – September annually)
• Meet certain income guidelines

To apply for services or to determine eligibility for crisis heating assistance, contact your local Community Action Agency.

In order to qualify for crisis heating assistance, a family must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Live in Idaho
• One household member must be a US Citizen or a lawful permanent resident
• Show proof of identity
• Provide proof of heating expense
• Meet certain income guidelines
• Have not received a crisis heating assistance benefit payment in the last 12 month period

Families must also meet one of the following requirements:

• is at risk of disconnection of utility services or had their utility services disconnected
• have a utility bill with a past due balance or owed arrearages
• have less than 48 hours of bulk fuel
