DHW and Child and Family Services welcomes your comments about the Social Services Block Grant Plan: This plan is the proposed use of one federally funded Block Grant Plan.

The Department of Health and Welfare submits an annual plan for federal funds to be used for the purpose of achieving or maintaining economic self-support to prevent, reduce, or eliminate dependency; achieving or maintaining self-sufficiency, including reduction or prevention of dependency; preventing or remedying neglect, abuse, or exploitation of children who are unable to protect their own interests, or preserving, rehabilitating, or reuniting families; preventing or reducing inappropriate institutional care by providing for community-based care, home-based care, or other forms of less intensive care; and securing referral or admission for institutional care when other forms of care are not appropriate, or providing services to individuals in institutions.

The plan is posted online for the public’s review for 7 calendar days: from April 15 through April 22, 2021.  Comments will be accepted only during this time.

Requests for a hard copy of the application and/or written comments should be mailed to the address below.

Comments should be clearly identified as concerning the Social Services Block Grant spending plan for state fiscal year 2022.  Please note that the department will not accept comment by phone, fax, or e-mail to Department or Child and Family Services Program staff.
