SWITC

Southwest Idaho Treatment Center (SWITC) is a 24-hour facility whose mission is to support individuals in crisis to become stable, develop skills, and to successfully transition to the community. We employ over 100 professionals who work together to meet our mission for each SWITC client. Integrity, high quality customer service, and compassion are core values that will lead to success at SWITC and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. 

SWITC has one of Idaho’s historic landmarks, the Idaho State Sanitarium Administration Building, on campus and includes acres of open space with beautiful gardens, wildlife, and walking paths for our employees to enjoy. 

SHW

State Hospital West (SHW) is an Adolescent Psychiatric Treatment Hospital located in Nampa (next door to SWITC) nestled between Ridgecrest and Centennial golf courses on a picturesque piece of state property along the Nampa Interstate 84 corridor. The facility offers a total of 16 psychiatric beds for adolescents between 11 and 18 years old. It provides a comprehensive range of behavioral healthcare, in a secure setting, that will meet the current and future demands of Idaho.

SHN

State Hospital North (SHN) is located in the beautiful mountains of North Central Idaho (Orofino) and is a licensed 55-bed psychiatric hospital providing primarily involuntary inpatient treatment for adults in psychiatric crisis who are committed to the Department of Health and Welfare. State Hospital North collaborates with patients, their families, and the referring regional behavioral health centers to develop targeted goals and objectives for the individual’s treatment episode while simultaneously focusing on critical supports and arrangements for follow-up care after discharge.

SHS

State Hospital South (SHS) in Blackfoot, Idaho, provides psychiatric inpatient treatment and skilled nursing care for Idaho’s adult citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living. State Hospital South includes 110 psychiatric adult beds and 42 skilled nursing beds. It also maintains a statewide program to restore the competency of criminal justice patients. The 42 skilled nursing beds in the Syringa Chalet Nursing Facility offer services to consumers with a history of behavioral or psychiatric illness. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission, which is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting established performance standards.

Positions Open on a Continuous Basis

Psychiatric Technicians & Psychiatric Technician Trainees

Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is seeking individuals who are driven to make an impact to our patients’ lives. If you are someone who wants to make a difference, share in growth and development, and know at the end of the day you have made a positive impact, then our Psychiatric Technician position might be for you!

General Information:

  • Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications of a Psychiatric Technician, can apply as a Psychiatric Technician Trainee to receive to receive and complete necessary training and allow time to obtain more experience and/or certifications so that they can be considered for a promotion to the Psychiatric Technician position.
  • These positions will implement, maintain, and manage patient care and safety.
  • This position also requires applicants to become certified in CPR and certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
  • Employees may be required to work weekends, holidays, day, evening and night shifts (swing or night shifts may include 5% shift pay).
  • Applicants with a CNA or a certification for Recreational Behavioral Technician (RBT) are encouraged to apply.
Registered Nurses & Licensed Practical Nurses

General Information:

  • These positions will be working under the direction of the Nurse Manager to implement, maintain, and manage patient care and safety.
  • This position also requires applicants to become certified in CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
  • Employees may be required to work weekends, holidays, day, evening and night shifts (swing or night shifts may include 5% shift pay).
Custodians

Cleaning/maintenance typical duties:
 

  • Performs heavy-duty cleaning in bedrooms, conference rooms, and lavatories, etc.
  • Cleans, sanitizes and polishes bath, lavatory, shower, and sink fixtures
  • Dusts, washes, sponge mops; sanitizes furniture, woodwork, walls, windows, and glass items
  • Cleans shades and covers on light fixtures; removes waste and debris from areas
  • Selects products and compounds for cleaning jobs; measures and mixes compounds, disinfectants, and sanitizing agents and applies according to procedures or manufacturers' specifications
  • Other duties as assigned


Equipment operation/security typical duties: 
 

  • Operates heavy-duty scrubbing, buffing, shampooing, vacuuming, and wet/dry pickup equipment
  • Performs preventive maintenance on cleaning equipment
  • Finishes floors using sanders, strippers, and final finishers
  • Uses dollies and carts
  • Ensures that floors and building areas are cleaned and sanitized
